NJAVARAKIZHI
“Njavara” means medicinal brown rice and “kizhi” means “pouch.” Rice, cooked in milk and decoction is packed in a pouch, and used to massage the body.

This is a rejuvenating procedure; done usually towards the end of your panchakarma therapy. It enhances blood circulation, reduces weakness and strengthens muscles. It also nourishes and improves the skin tone
Njavarkizhi addresses diseases such as neurological disorders, lower back pain, arthritis, muscular dystrophy, gastrointestinal problems and various gynaeco-logical disorders.
Procedure
- The therapist will begin the treatment with an oil massage.
- After the massage, the pouches filled with medicated rice are dipped into the medicated milk and applied to the body in a rhythmic manner. Depending on the patient’s tolerance to heat, the therapist will adjust the temperature accordingly.
- The pouches are applied in long and round strokes and the body will also be stroked using hands in the meantime.
